My Dad died in honor.

He was a believer in Jesus Christ.

He did not live for the world during his remaining time here on earth nor did he have any addictions.

I'm so proud of my Dad.

It is sad when someone like Hugh Hefner will die with women on his mind and will no doubt request that a photo of a nude woman be glued to the lid of his coffin.

Please do not get me wrong.

I believe the Holy Bible when it clearly says that the soul does not linger in the dead corpse. Either the soul goes to eternal hell or it goes to Heaven, depending on what that person believed.

So, what I say is meant to be a humorous way of making a spiritual point.

What is even worse than Hugh Hefner is when an evangelical christian who has heard the gospel all their life spends the remaining years of their life addicted to food, gossiping on the telephone with other gossipers, continuously watching the food channel, continuously watching forensic shows about murder and crime, accuses God of being unfair in giving human beings only 2 choices for their eternal destiny, accuses God of liking war, accuses God of not having a value on human life, blames God for bad weather conditions, thinks that God makes mistakes and thinks that they are smarter than God.

And not only this...if it was up to the evangelical to make the choice, would choose to live a life free of disease, free of trouble, having enough money to live on forever, and most importantly, to live forever without the involvement of satan and God both.

It makes me want to place a phone, the foods they were addicted to, and a battery powered TV tuned in on their favorite channel... inside their coffin. LOL

What a shame to only be remembered for these silly things.

What a disgrace to leave this life in disgrace.

Most people do not know this but the first eye witnesses of Jesus’ resurrection were the Roman soldiers…not Mary nor His disciples as is commonly believed.

Matthew said;

“ Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done.

And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,

Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.

And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.

So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day. “ Matthew 28:11-15

I can imagine Jesus coming out of the tomb after the angel rolled the stone away and the Roman soldiers sitting there in amazement watching all what was going on.

Jesus, coming out of the tomb and seeing the soldiers sitting there, the ones who crucified Him or at least had a part in it, makes me think what I would have done to those soldiers had that been me coming out of the tomb.

However, even at this moment Jesus showed mercy to them and left them alone.

Jesus did not get revenge on them.

Fortunately for us, we presently live in the time era known as God’s grace.

When we are done unjustly, we should always remember how Jesus could have got even with the Roman soldiers at this moment… but He left them alone.

Even though Jesus would have been justified in getting revenge at this moment, He chose to show mercy.

Forgiveness is what Jesus taught us. This is not taught in any existing religion.

“ Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. “ Matthew 18:21-22

This is one of multiple reasons most people hate Jesus and anyone who follows Jesus. It is human nature to want to get revenge on enemies and even murder anyone in general who has a different opinion or believes in someone or something different than we do.

To the contrary of this mentality, Jesus taught to love, forgive and be merciful.

According to Jesus we are to forgive even if we are constantly hurt by someone on a regular continual repeated basis.

It is easier when we are hurt by someone once in a while but when it is constant and on a regular basis, it is more difficult to forgive.

Obviously, this is what Peter was dealing with and this is why he asked Jesus how many times he should forgive a repeat offender.

The Greek word “ adelphos “ translated “ brother “ means a brother literally or figuratively, near or remote.

Whoever Peter was referring to was obviously someone he trusted or should have been able to trust.

This is another reason Jesus said our enemies will be people who are closest to us…or should be close to us anyway, and even people of the same faith as we are.

“ And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. “ Matthew 10:36

People in general who hurt us are easy to shrug off because we expect that from them but when it is someone we should be able to trust, it is difficult to forgive…especially when it is someone who continuously, repeatedly hurts us.

My friend, even if we are justified by the court system, a lawyer, or anyone who understands our situation in taking someone to court who has hurt us, according to the Holy Bible we should still forgive and take the wrong they have done to us.

Paul said;

“ I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?

But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.

Now therefore there is utterly a fault among you, because ye go to law one with another. Why do ye not rather take wrong? why do ye not rather suffer yourselves to be defrauded?

Nay, ye do wrong, and defraud, and that your brethren.

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?… “ 1 Corinthians 6:5-9

When we want to give in to getting even, always remember what Jesus said;

“ For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. “ Matthew 6:14-15

Yes, no matter what our theology, company church doctrine or personal belief is, Jesus clearly said we will not be forgiven either!

“ neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. “

This is certainly something to think about!

And always remember this!

“ Blessed are the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy. “ Matthew 5:7

“ For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment. “ James 2:13

It is best to forgive!
