Today's Bible Verse Genesis 2:8-22
May 15th
2:8And the LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed. 2:9And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. 2:10And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. 2:11The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; 2:12And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium and the onyx stone. 2:13And the name of the second river is Gihon: the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia. 2:14And the name of the third river is Hiddekel: that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria. And the fourth river is Euphrates. 2:15And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 2:16And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 2:17But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
2:18And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. 2:19And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. 2:20And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an help meet for him. 2:21And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 2:22And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 2:23And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 2:24Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. 2:25And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.

“ Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. “
I know I said I would continue with verse 3 in this study but I feel the need to discuss the phrase when Paul said;
“ By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, “
Let’s continue.
“ By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. “
I know this is difficult for many evangelicals to understand.
Even during the present time of grace in which we live, things happen to disobedient born again christians.
There is a trend of preaching grace within evangelicalism today leaving people with the idea they can live in sin, disobey God, and care nothing about pleasing Him…since we are under grace.
Any attempt for a follower of Jesus in trying to live different from the world is considered “ legalism “.
Therefore, many evangelicals including church leaders reject these verses in the Bible.
Paul gave this warning to born again christians in the present time of grace;
“ For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body.
For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.
But when we are judged, we are chastened of the Lord, that we should not be condemned with the world.
Wherefore, my brethren, when ye come together to eat, tarry one for another.
And if any man hunger, let him eat at home; that ye come not together unto condemnation. And the rest will I set in order when I come. “ 1 Corinthians 11:26-34
This is rejected by evangelicals today with the excuse that we are complete and perfect…and under grace.
Then this would mean Paul lied to us...which I sincerely doubt that Paul lied.
Luke wrote about 2 born again christians who were also under grace when this happened to them;
“ But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession,
And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.
And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things.
And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.
And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in.
And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much.
Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.
Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband.
And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things. “ Acts 5:1-11
This statement also refers to born again christians who were under grace.
“ And great fear came upon all the church, and upon as many as heard these things. “
Even with God’s wrath being restrained though momentarily from unbelievers because of God’s grace through the death of His Son Jesus this still happened to an unbeliever;
“ And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them.
And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man.
And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost. “ Acts 12:21-23
Jesus, the source of God’s grace in which we stand and have peace with God gave this warning even during the present time of grace;
“ There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none.
Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:
And if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down. “ Luke 13:1-9
John, writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit of God wrote these words about born again christians who were under grace, perfect and made complete;
“ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us. “ 1 John 1:8-10
Paul knew because of grace there would be born again christians who would think it is okay to live in sin and since born again christians are perfect and made complete living in sin would not even be noticed by God nor would bring us repercussions and consequences for our actions.
This is why Paul clearly said;
“ What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? “ Romans 6:15-16
Jesus, the source of the grace in which we stand also gave another warning to born again christians who were under His grace, perfect and made complete;
“ I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. “ Revelation 3:15-19
These are only a few of the many verses throughout the Holy Bible that evangelicals reject today.
However, on the positive side of grace in the verse of our study;
“ By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. “
God’s grace will keep us out of hell when we physically die if we remain in the faith and continue in it to the end of our life.
“ Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.
And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life. “ 1 John 2:24-25
This is by keeping our faith in Jesus always.
Another sure thing about grace is that as a believer and follower of Jesus Christ we are free to come literally before God and ask for help concerning any issue in life.
The writer of Hebrews said;
“ Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. “ Hebrews 4:14-16
Also, because of God’s grace believers in Jesus will literally some day in the future become like Him;
“ For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. “ Romans 8:29
Notice Paul did not say we are predestined to be saved but rather those of us who belong to Jesus are predestined to be conformed to the image of Jesus.
John said about our future as a born again believer in Jesus;
“ Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. “ 1 John 3:2
As we stand in God’s grace we as believers in His Son Jesus are joint heirs with Him and heirs of the promise God made to Abraham;
“ And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together. “ Romans 8:17
“ And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise. “ Galatians 3:29
“ That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. “ Titus 3:7
Because of grace, when we as born again christians stand before God in judgment it will not be concerning our eternal destiny since because of our faith in Jesus God’s grace allows us to be in Heaven forever.
Our judgment will have to do with rewards.
I will continue with verse 3 in the next study.
