John 12:31 ( posted 11-26-13 )

Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

Let's continue.

Now is the judgment of this world:

We will find that later in this chapter we are studying, Jesus clearly said;

And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.John 12:47

At this moment Jesus inferred who will be the judge...referring to His Father;

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. John 12:48

Even though Jesus said;

Now in the verse of our study, keep in mind that a day is as a thousand years and a thousand years is as a day to the Lord;

But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 2 Peter 3:8

Nowcan be a very long time to us but to the Lord, almost immediate.

From the moment Jesus made this statement, in actuality the judgment of this world is at least ( though not limited to ) a two-fold process over a period of time consisting of more than 3007 years.

The signing of the 7 year peace treaty the “ antichrist “ brings the Jews and the Arabs to agreeing on in the future, commonly known among evangelicals as the 7 year tribulation period is referred to in the Holy Bible as the time of God's wrath. This is at least 2000 years from the time Jesus made this statement about this world's judgment being Now.

The next form of judgment is another 1000 years after this when God brings fire down from Heaven on the armies who once again gather around Jerusalem to destroy Jesus and the Jews...after satan is released from the abyss.

And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. Revelation 20:7-9

The final judgment will be an undetermined length of time after this.

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:11-15

Again, keep in mind this final judgment will be at least 3007 years from the moment Jesus made this statement in the verse of our study.

now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

The Greek word “ archon “ translated prince means ruler, chief, magistrate, a first in rank or power.

Jesus said clearly about satan;

Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. “   John 14:30

Paul called satan the god of this world;

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. “ 2 Corinthians 4:4

Once again, the now Jesus referred to in the verse of our study;

now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

will not happen to satan for at least 3007 years from the moment Jesus said this.

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever. Revelation 20:10

Satan as the “ god “ and “ prince “ of this present world still has the ability to deceive and to mislead.

However, because of the death of Jesus, for those of us who believe in Jesus, satan has no stronghold over us. His power has been broken.

Yes, He can deceive even those of us who believe in Jesus but he has no power over people who believe in Jesus.

I will continue with verse 32 in the next study.

John 10:28 continued ( posted 4-6-12 )

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Let’s continue.

Listen up!

I know even though there are church companies who preach the gospel of Jesus Christ in partiality - that is, only accepting the verses in the Bible that they like while willfully rejecting the verses they dislike, a person can still find Jesus as Lord and Savior on the basics of the gospel as taught in these church corporations.

Paul mentioned about hypocrites who taught the gospel of Jesus Christ with alterior motives and for various reasons even in his day;

“ And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:

The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:

But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.

What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice. “   Philippians 1:14-18

Like in Paul's day, there are pastors today who are not called into the ministry but are church company appointed to the position, and pastors who are in the ministry for any reason other than being called. Many pastors are voted in by popularity, much as the president of the United States is voted into office.

When we stand before the judgment seat of Christ, we will be judged for our motive for what we do for Christ.

What we do for Christ is not as important when we are judged as the reason for what we do for Christ.

It is our motive in what we do for Christ that will either make us or break us on that day.

Paul even asked born again christians who had already been saved, washed in the blood of Jesus, forgiven, justified, sanctified, chosen, predestined and redeemed;

“  And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,

He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.

And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.

Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.

When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

And all the men were about twelve. “   Acts 19:1-7

Notice it wasn’t because they had willfully rejected what they had heard about tongues and the gifts of the Holy Spirit that they had not received the Holy Spirit. It was because nobody had taught them about the Holy Spirit and His gifts and reality of existence in the life of the believer.

This kind of ignorance was from lack of knowledge…not willful ignorance of rejection of Biblical truth…as it is prevalent today since the 15th century.

As you might remember from my studies, there are 2 kinds of ignorance taught in the Bible…willful ignorance and ignorance from lack of knowledge.

Willful ignorance is a choice we make…and will give answer to God for some day.

My friend, willful ignorance will not get us off the hook!

All that I say about church companies, differences of beliefs about God’s word and so forth is why Paul said;

“ Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: “      Ephesians 4:13

This has not happened yet.

Even the world knows this has not happened to us yet.

The world is quite aware of our doctrinal differences.

This is why the Bible teaches overall that our salvation is both complete and in the process of being made complete.

We are both righteous and in the process of being made righteous in Christ.

This gives way to the inevitable reality of “ apostasy.”

So, what can pluck us from the hand of the Lord, since Jesus clearly said;

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

since it obviously happened to Judas and has and will continue to happen even to those of us who are saved, born again, washed in the blood of the Lamb, redeemed, forgiven, justified, sanctified, chosen and predestined?

It is obviously because of what we believe.

Jesus said clearly;

I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. “  John 8:24

If we once believed this about Jesus as Jesus described these people;

They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. “   Luke 8:13

Yes, Jesus said they;

which for a while believe,

and then no longer believe this about Jesus, then we are no longer saved.

Our salvation is only as good as our faith.

God's grace poured out on us is only as good as our faith.

According to Jesus, these people were once saved, sanctified, justified, redeemed, forgiven and born again because of their faith in Jesus.

So what happened??

I personally know evangelicals today who once believed Jesus is the only way to Heaven who now believe Jesus lied to us in claiming to be the only way to Heaven.

They now believe Jesus is a way to Heaven - that is, an optional way to Heaven.

According to them, God has alternative plans to get people to Heaven who do not believe in Jesus.

This my friend, is “ apostasy.”

Apostasy is a changing of one’s faith from one thing to something else or from one person to someone else.

Even Islamic leaders call their own who leave the Muslim faith to go to another religion…apostates.

Apostasy for them is the same term used in the Holy Bible about us.

Apostasy is not getting wrapped up in living in sin as most evangelicals believe.

Apostasy is literally departing from something once believed and now believing in something or someone else.

This is what Paul prophesied would happen on a large scale among born again christians before Jesus returns…even before the anitichrist comes.

Apostasy is a personal willful decision to change one’s faith from having once believed Jesus at His word to no longer believing Jesus at His word and is what will pluck us out of the hand of the Lord.

It is a choice we make.

As with Judas who is no doubt presently wishing he could come back to life and renew his personal faith in Jesus Christ, cannot do this as it is too late for him now, so Peter described those of us who will make the same decision Judas did when Peter said;

“ For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.

For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them.

But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire. “         2 Peter 2:20-22

And this my friend, is not a lie Peter conjured up to scare us nor is it a so called hypothetical situation that cannot happen in reality as most evangelicals claim!

This is reality and I know personally of this happening to evangelicals.

I will continue with this verse.

Wayne Brown

John 10:28 continued ( posted 4-4-12 )

“  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

Let’s continue.

I love verses like this because I think of the many other verses throughout the Bible that seem to contradict this verse.

However my friend, God does not contradict Himself.

If you look at the whole picture, it makes sense.

As you should know by now, I’m not one who presents haf-truth doctines and fantasy philosophies that are based on selected verses I only choose to support my theory while willfully rejecting the so-called opposing Bible verses, which is what church companies have done in establishing their church corporations while at the same time claiming to be started and ordained by God.

How can God have varying church companies with disagreeing church doctrines and claim to be the initiator of all these different church companies??

Meanwhile the world, who is not stupid, laughs at us in our disagreements about the Bible.

I know what external Bible critics point out, so I point out the same apparent contradictory Bible verses they do and present them as the whole picture of what God is saying to us through the 40 authors of the Holy Bible who were all moved and inspired by the Holy Spirit of God to write the word of God…as per the Holy Bible’s claim.

I present the verses that only seem to contradict the verse of our study and you can believe what you want;

“  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

If your faith is based only on selected verses of the Bible, I would suggest that you give in to the fact there is more to the Word of God than what you were taught.

You were no doubt taught to reject the other verses that disagree with your church company doctrine because of either “ having trouble with this verse “ as one Calvinist following pastor said to his congregation or simply never quoting the verse and rejecting it.

So, if the people Jesus referred to in Luke 8:13;

They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. “    Luke 8:13

are people Jesus actually once knew as opposed to the people He admits He never knew;

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. “   Matthew 7:23

how then did the opposite of what Jesus said in the verse of our study happen to them??

“  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

There is one thing missing in the list Paul mentions of what cannot separate us from the love of God;

“ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.“   Romans 8:35-39

That one thing is “ self “.

My friend, we ourselves are the only ones who can pluck ourself out of  Jesus’ hand.

What Jesus said in the verse of our study;

“  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

 is Biblically proven to only apply to us as long as our faith remains in Jesus and has not changed, since our status and relationship with God is based on our faith in Jesus;

Since our eternal life is based on our faith in Jesus, if we change our faith then we no longer have eternal life.

We must remember what eternal life actually is since even the unsaved has eternal life.

Eternal life is knowing God through Jesus Christ His Son;

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. “    John 17:3

If we know Jesus as do the people Jesus referred to in the last verse of our study;

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: “   John 10:27

then we have eternal life abiding in us.

And this kind of eternal life, different from the unsaved. is based on our faith in Jesus as per what Jesus said;

“  For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. “    John 3:16

However, if our faith changes from what Jesus taught, then we can no longer have eternal life in us, the kind of eternal life Jesus described.

This change in our spiritual status is what Paul called “ apostasy ”;

“ Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; “

2  Thessalonians 2:3

This change in our spiritual staus is what Jesus called “ skandalisthesontai “;

And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. “  Matthew 24:10

This change in our spiritual status is what Paul called “ apostesontai “;

“ Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; “  1 Timothy 4:1

This change in our spiritual staus is what Jesus called “ aphistantai “;

“  They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. “      Luke 8:13

Like Judas who once believed in Jesus, we can also change our faith.

A church pastor who is a follower of John Calvin once said, while we believe in eternal security, however, there is the issue of “ apostasy.”

Pastors like him who cannot give an explanation of what the Bible means by “ apostasy” rejects and ignores the verses I have posted in my study because the verses do not agree with their church company doctrine.

The problem with church company taught eternal security and/or predestination is that it condones living in sin, teaches that God’s grace is poured out without faith, and that a person can have faith without works.

Biblical eternal security and predestination does not promote sin, and to the contrary of church company doctrine teaches that God’s grace is only poured out in response to faith in Jesus Christ and that even faith itself is worthless and dead without works.

I’m not done with this verse.

I will continue with verse 28 in the next study.

Wayne Brown

John 10:28 ( posted 4-3-12 )

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

This is going to take me some time to discuss.

As you should know by now, I look at all verses that pertain to a given subject.

I look at the whole picture…the rest of the story.

In the verse of our study the subject is eternal life and whether we can lose our salvation or not.

Jesus lost most of His followers when He got down to brass tacks about truth and commitment to Him.

If you remember in an earlier study we learned that Jesus even asked His initial 12 disciples if they were going to leave Him as well.

“  But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.

From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. “   John 6:64-69

Even Judas did not leave Him at this time.

If you read this carefully you will find there are 2 categories of people among Jesus’ followers…some who did not believe and some who did believe but would betray Him.

“  But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him. “

One of Webster’s definitions for “ betray “ is - “ to break faith with.”

One cannot betray someone who was not ever a part of that someone to begin with.

Even Judas believed in Jesus and was counted as a born again christian and an apostle before he betrayed Jesus…or else it would not have been an actual act of betrayal.

“ Men and brethren, this scripture must needs have been fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake before concerning Judas, which was guide to them that took Jesus.

For he was numbered with us, and had obtained part of this ministry. “ Acts 1:16-17

Yes, Judas actually;

had obtained part of this ministry. “

and Judas;

“ was numbered with us, “

and Matthias who would be selected to replace Judas was to fill Judas’ position from which he fell from;

“ That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place. “   Acts 1:25

And not only this, for those of you who teach that people are preselected and chosen to be saved, Judas was also chosen!

“ Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? “ John 6:70

Jesus did not just choose 11, He chose all 12 of them!

“ Have not I chosen you twelve, “

As difficult as it is for most evangelicals to swallow, Judas was at one time on his way to Heaven…but is now in hell.

Jesus had given Judas eternal life because he believed in Jesus.

Anyone who believes in Jesus and is living in continuance of believing, hearing Him, knowing Him, and following Him, has been given eternal life.

Let’s continue.

And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

And I give unto them eternal life;

Who are the people Jesus said He has given eternal life to?

They are the people in the preceding verse that I discussed in the previous study.

Jesus’ sheep.

My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: “  John 10:27

And I give unto them eternal life;

Notice Jesus is the One who gives eternal life.

If you remember in an earlier study we learned that Jesus also said;

“  And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.

And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.John 6:39-40

This is important for us to realize.

Jesus is the salvation of our soul…not the common popular myth that believing that God exists saves our soul.

This is one reason Jesus said that only a few people will actually find the way to Heaven.

Jesus is God’s plan for our salvation.

Jesus made it quite clear when He said;

Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.

I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. “   John 8:23-24

Notice Jesus did not say, if we cannot live up to His standards of holiness, we will die in our sins.

Jesus only said;

for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

To receive eternal life from Jesus He requires that we believe in Him.

Sadly, this is where people have trouble.

Eternal life is given by Jesus in response to our faith in Him…not how good a person we can be.

and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

The same Jesus who said this, and who also said;

I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.  John 6:39

also said;

While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled. “  John 17:12

and also said;

They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. “   Luke 8:13

while the Holy Spirit inspired Paul to write;

“ Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith,“   1 Timothy 4:1

and;

“  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, “   2 Thessalonians 2:3

Keep in mind that these people mentioned are not the same ones Jesus said He never knew.

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. “   Matthew 7:23

Like Judas who lost his salvation, so did the people Jesus mentioned here;

They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. “   Luke 8:13

Since these people did once believe;

which for a while believe,

Jesus had given them eternal life too since eternal life is based on believing in Jesus.

I will continue with this verse in the next study.
