This Week's Sermon ( 1-13-17 )

" And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. "   Luke 21:34-36

" Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. "   Matthew 24:42

I was talking to an unsaved person recently who told me she thinks there is something going on with the way things are in the world today.

If an unsaved person can wonder what is going on from watching the news and seeing things going on with nature being destructive all over the world, how much more should we who claim to belong to Jesus Christ be considering we could be nearing the time the Bible prophesied.

This unsaved person I talked to told me she thinks the end of the world might be coming.

We as born again followers of Jesus need to quit using the excuse - " we don't know when Jesus is coming " ( which I have learned is merely used as an excuse to hide someone's true feeling that he or she actually does not want Jesus to come back, as they are in love with themselves and their life here on earth ).

This is sad but true.

Even though we do not know when Jesus will return, Jesus told us we are to watch for His return.

" Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. "

However, in recent months, I have been hearing more and more evangelicals tell me that they want Jesus to come back soon...( something I have not heard in years ) mainly because of the bad times in the world presently.

Listening to this unsaved person opened my eyes to the fact that since the unsaved are wondering, we might really be nearing the time Jesus will return.

Before my wife died, she told me she felt that Jesus would be returning soon.

We as followers of Jesus need to be watching for our Lord to come back.

I ask Jesus every day to please come and rapture us up to be with Him.

If Paul, John, Peter and the early christians thought Jesus was returning 2000 years ago, how much more should we today.

It is interesting that when John wrote the book of Revelation 2000 years ago, some of his last words were;

" Even so, come, Lord Jesus. "   Revelation 22:20

John wanted Jesus to come back so much.

I do too.
