This Week's Sermon ( 10-15-19 )

" For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:Matthew 6: 14
" So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. "   Matthew 18:35

" And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. "   Mark  11:25

" But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. "   Matthew 6:15

" But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. "   Mark 11:26

" And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.  "   Ephesians 4:32

My friend, it is important to forgive.

I have a lot to forgive and I have a lot to be forgiven for.

I choose to forgive those who have offended me so God will forgive me.

If we think we have commited no sin even as born again believers in Jesus, according to John, we are liars.

" If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
1 John 1:8-10

Learn to forgive church people who have hurt you as well as the world.

Then you will be forgiven.

Don't gossip nor backbite any brother or sister in Christ...nor anyone.

If we do gossip and backbite we will give answer to Jesus for every word we said.

Also, do not take a brother or sister in Christ to the law.

Paul warned against this.

Keep your faith in Jesus.

This Week's Sermon ( 1-1-19 ) Happy New Year!

" Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.  "   John 6:26-29

" What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
  James 2:14-26

" And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
  Luke 23:39-43

My friend, listen up.

I have always said that the criminal on the cross that was sentenced to death by Roman law who chose to believe in Jesus during his dying moments had no works but Jesus saved him anyway because of his faith in Jesus as he was dying.

I have always said that this criminal who put his faith in Jesus shortly before he died had no time to pay tithes, give to the poor, live a clean life, make right the wrong he did to people, nor did he have time to join a church, which is true...but Jesus still forgave him and took him to Heaven because of his faith in Jesus during his dying moments.

It came to me recently that this criminal did have a work to support his faith.

He believed in Jesus.

That was his work.

Believing in Jesus is a work, especially when we are drawing our last breath.

Jesus Himself said that the work of God is this;

" Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.  "

So, the faith this criminal had in Jesus was a work in itself that proved his faith.

I know this criminal no doubt listened to many of Jesus' sermons during His ministry.

I know this criminal remembered what Jesus said;

" And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world.
I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
  John 8:23-24

I know this criminal knew he was soon to be in eternal hell as he was dying.

He decided to rest his faith in this guy named Jesus hanging on a cross next to him.

He chose wisely.

Jesus responded to this criminal by saying;

" And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. "

My friend, choose to believe in Jesus as you are dying like this criminal wisely chose to do in his dying moments.

This Week's Sermon ( 12-26-18 )

" Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.  "   Luke 12:40

" And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
  Luke 21:34-36

" For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
  1 Thessalonians 5:9-10

It is good to now hear preachers talking about the return of Jesus.

For years I have heard very little said in sermons about the hope of Jesus coming back.

I have even personally known people who do not want Jesus to come back as they are so in love with their life.

However, things are getting so bad in the world that christians today are now seeming to want Jesus to come back.

I know God has an appointed time for Jesus to return, as Jesus said;

" But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. "   Matthew 24:36
" But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
"   Mark 13:32

However this should not be used as an excuse, as I have repeatedly heard people use simply because they really do not want Jesus to come back, nor does this not mean for us to not be watching, hoping and expecting Jesus to come back.

Jesus still said we are to be watching for His return;

" Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.  "   Luke 21:36

Some of the things that Jesus told us to pray that we be worthy to escape is the rise of the antichrist.

If you study prophecy in detail it is indicated that the antichrist will come from Syria.

With our troops being pulled out of Syria soon, this could give way to the antichrist to come to power.

But we must remember that at the start the antichrist will come on the scene as a peacemaker, according to the prophet Daniel. He then later shows his true nature as a destroyer.

Whenever the prophesied antichrist does rise to power, this means Jesus will definitely for sure be returning to take believers in Him up in the event known as the rapture.

" For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words. "   1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

Almost everyday I look up at the sky and beg Jesus to return.

However, I may die before He returns.

Whichever comes first, I will be with Him either way.

Keep your faith in Jesus and let us start watching for Him so His return will not catch us by surprise, which means we will be preparing for His coming as He told us to do.

This Week's Sermon ( 12-18-18 )

" And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.  "   John 1:14

Some of us celebrate Christmas because of Jesus...not because of anyone or anything else.

Christmas is the time we devote to acknowledging the birth of Jesus, who John referred to as " The Word ".

John said;

" In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
The same was in the beginning with God.
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
  John 1:1-3

Notice that John clearly said that " the Word was made flesh ", not was created flesh.

My friend, Jesus is not a created human being created by God, since John clearly said Jesus is God.

Jesus is literally God in the flesh, who chose to leave His throne in Heaven and come to earth and be born in the womb of Mary.

Mary became the mother of the baby that God became in her womb, and was born during her virginity, when she knew no man.

Luke clearly said;

" Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. "   Luke 1:34-35

We must also remember this baby that was born who was given the name, Jesus;

" And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. "   Luke 1:31

clearly said;

" I and my Father are one. "   John 10:30

This baby Jesus also said He always existed;

" Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. "   John 8:58

My friend, I will believe in this baby Jesus, born of a virgin, as we acknowledge and honor Him this Christmas, to my dying breath.

Thomas admitted having trouble believing who this baby named Jesus claimed to be, even though he was with Jesus for 3 years until Jesus died.

But after Thomas saw the nail wounds after Jesus came forth from the dead, said to Jesus;

" And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.  "   John 20:28

Notice Thomas did not only call Jesus his Lord, but he also called Jesus his God.

Thomas knew at this moment that this baby born in Bethlehem, is God.

I like what Jesus said in response to him;

" Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.  "   John 20:29

My friend, that refers to you and me.

Keep your faith in Jesus to the end.

This baby Jesus is our only hope for salvation.
