This Week's Sermon ( 10-17-17 )

" But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.
Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is.  Mark 13:32-33

" But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.  "   1 Thessalonians 5:1-4

There is so much going on in the world these days that I have to talk about the return of Jesus.

There has recently been hurricanes of catastrophic proportion that has excelled any hurricane that has happened in the past.

There was a hurricane that hit Ireland recently, where there has never been a hurricane ever in history.

There was a fire in California recently that was the worst in California ever...even though fires are common in that state.

Many church people are now wondering what is going on. They are wondering if Jesus might be returning soon.

I heard a sermon this past Sunday in which the pastor admitted that most of his life he has always quoted the verse;

But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.  "   Mark 13:32

not taking signs of the return of Jesus seriously.

But he admits, now, he is wondering if Jesus is coming back.

Jesus did say;

" And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; "   Luke 21:35

While there will be catastrophic events take place to indicate the return of Jesus, we still have to remember one thing that Paul said;

" For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.  "   1 Thessalonians 5:3

Even though, along with catastrophic events as we have been witnessing lately, this " peace and safety " is also prophesied to be part of the last days before Jesus returns and this prophecy of " peace and safety " has not happened yet.

According to Jesus it will be during this time that many christians will be slack, thinking the Lord delayeth His coming.

It will be during this time of " peace and safety " that christians will lose sight of the return of Jesus and focus on worldly things.

During this " peace and safety " is more than likely when Jesus will return in the rapture but we must also understand that the rapture is also a prophetic sign of the return of Jesus when He returns literally to the earth to fight in the battle of Armageddon and set up His thousand year kingdom here on earth.

Keep your faith in Jesus no matter what happens.

Jesus is returning soon.

This Week's Sermon ( 4-25-17 )

" Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. "   1 Corinthans  15:51-52

Whenever Jesus is going to return, the fact is, He will return.

Paul thought Jesus was going to return back in his day.

This is why he said;

" For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Wherefore comfort one another with these words.  "   1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

Note how Paul described the " rapture " - which means in the Greek, " caught up " as is translated, as happening in the blink of an eye.

I remember an airline a long time ago, whose executives would not allow 2 born again christian pilots in the cockpit during the same flight.

The reason was, should the rapture take place during the flight, there would be no one left to fly the plane and keep the passengers alive.

While I was driving recently, I wondered what would happen should the rapture happen while I was driving.

Obviously, my car would crash somewhere.

I also thought of other believers in Jesus if they are driving when the rapture takes place what would happen to their vehicles.

There will be many wrecks and no doubt many get hurt from crashing driverless vehicles.

What if a born again surgeon is performing heart surgery on a patient when the rapture takes place.

My friend, no matter what, Jesus is going to return when He is ready to.

When I hear His shout, the voice of the archangel, and the trumpet of God, I will gladly go up to meet Him in the clouds no matter where I'm at or what I'm doing.

Jesus said we are to watch for His return.

We need to be willing to lay everything aside and go to be with Him. That is, if we really want to be with Him.

Jesus clearly said;

" And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.  "   Luke 24:34-36

I have noticed in recent months because of what is going on throughout the world, that more and more believers are wanting Jesus to return. They tell me they think these are signs of the return of Jesus.

Surprisingly, even unsaved people tell me they are wondering what is going on.

That is interesting.

I did not used to hear much about the return of Jesus from christians until recently. Many were in love with their life and their prosperity and would rather stay here and enjoy it.

My friend, as Jesus said;

" Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:
But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.  "   Matthew 6:19-21

As with Paul, John and Peter and the rest, their heart was in Heaven and they would rather have been with Jesus.

We need to be like this too.

Let us look for Jesus and anxiously wait for His return, being willing to let go of everything we have, when He does return.

It is certain if we die first before Jesus returns, we will have to let go of everything.

This Week's Sermon ( 4-11-17 )

" Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.
Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. "   John 14:1-6

" And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. "   Revelation 13:8

" The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is. "   Revelation 17:8

" Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, "   1 Peter 1:20

" For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. "   Hebrews 4:3

" According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: "   Ephesians  1:4

" Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world. "   John 17:24

Notice Jesus said;

" that where I am, there ye may be also. "

As I sit on the back porch and marvel at God's creation, I know that at one time there was literally nothing here.

God was all alone. There was no one and nothing but Him.

I often wonder what He did before He created the angels, the universe, the mountains, the earth, the plants and trees...and everything else.

I marvel at how vast God is and was still able to create an insect so small that I can hardly see it and even give it a brain, feelings, and a body to get around.

Notice in the verses how many times reference is made to;

" before the foundation of the world,"

My friend, God knew us long before He created anything.

Amazing.

Jeremiah said;

 " Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.  "   Jeremiah 1:4-5

While God existed by Himself, He had no need for anyone, nor anything.

God is sufficient in Himself.

However, God likes company.

This is why He created those of us who will believe in His Son, Jesus.

This is why Jesus said;

" ye believe in God, believe also in me. "

God wants those of us who will believe in His Son, Jesus, to spend eternity with Him.

Notice John said;

" ...the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. "

Before He created anything, God had already determined in His mind that He would come and take on human flesh and be one of His own creation and die for us so we could be saved from eternal hell and spend eternity with Him...that is, if we believe in His only begotten Son, Jesus.

Jesus said;

" For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. "   John 3:16

Always believe in Jesus.

This Week's Sermon ( 3-22-17 )

" Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?
Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.
Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents.
But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.
The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt.
But the same servant went out, and found one of his fellowservants, which owed him an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest.
And his fellowservant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.
So when his fellowservants saw what was done, they were very sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done.
Then his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou desiredst me:
Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?
And his lord was wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay all that was due unto him.
So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. "   Matthew 18:21-35

I know most of us, even those of us who believe in Jesus, choose the verses in the Holy Bible that we like and reject the verses in the Holy Bible that we do not like and think it does not apply to us.

However, Jesus clearly said;

" So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. "

and yes, Jesus did say;

" you,"

Jesus said this in direct response to Peter's question about forgiving someone.

My friend, even those of us who are saved, born again, washed in the blood of Jesus and forgiven, must forgive others or we will reap consequences...according to Jesus.

Paul said;

" Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:

And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. "   Ephesians 4:31-32

Jesus also said;

" For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:
But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. "   Matthew 6:14-15

If satan cannot get those of us who believe in Jesus into hell, he will still try to leave a scar on us eternally, even though we are in Heaven.

We go to Heaven by grace through faith.

However, our works will still be judged, which includes forgiving others who have done us wrong.

Paul said about those of us who believe in Jesus;

" For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. "   2 Corinthians 5:10

My friend, this is serious for the born again believer.

Learn to forgive and we will be forgiven for the wrong we have done as born again believers.
