This Week's Sermon ( 2-20-18 )

" Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. "   Psalm 41:1

" He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he. "   Proverbs 14:21

" He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again. "   Proverbs 19:17

" He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse. "   Proverbs 28:27

" As the days wherein the Jews rested from their enemies, and the month which was turned unto them from sorrow to joy, and from mourning into a good day: that they should make them days of feasting and joy, and of sending portions one to another, and gifts to the poor.  "   Esther 9:22

My wife and I enjoyed taking food to the homeless.

We discovered in downtown Denver where the real homeless are, those who literally sleep on the sidewalks. Nearby, there is what is called, The Denver Rescue Mission but they cannot contain all the homeless as there are so many nowadays.

When my wife and I first started taking food to the homeless, there weren't really all that many. The age of them was like forties and older. But now, it is like a city within the city of downtown Denver and includes both young and old.

Even though my wife died, I continue to do this.

Two days ago on Sunday, I took food to the homeless. I got to see a born again christian once again who I had met the last time I went there. Part of one of his legs is gone and he has to be in a wheelchair. He told me he is a believer in Jesus Christ.

I'm finding that there are many born again believers in Jesus who live on the streets.

As I was setting food on the sidewalk a homeless man came up to me and asked me if he could have a can of Pepsi. I looked at him and said - " Of course. This is for you. " He responded by saying to me - " The Lord bless you. "

That just made my day.

My friend, there is a real blessing that comes from doing this for the poor and needy.

I understand why Jesus was with the poor so much.

I encourage you to give to the homeless in your area.  According to Solomon in Proverbs, it is like giving to the Lord.

Take the time to deliver food to them personally and witness to them about Jesus.

They really appreciate it.

I always say to all of them, " Give your heart to Jesus! "

Many respond by saying - " Amen! "

You will be surpised how many homeless people are believers in Jesus.

This Week's Sermon ( 10-11-16 )

" In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

The same was in the beginning with God.

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. "   John 1:1-14

I love to watch the Moon grow from a sliver to a full moon.

I look up at the Moon, the stars and planets, and congratulate Jesus for the beautiful job He did in creating everything.

As John said about Jesus;

" All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. "

I look up at the Moon and ask Jesus what He thought of the Moon as He would look up at it while He was here on planet earth 2000 years ago.

He probably thought to Himself, I remember when I created that.

I love this passage in the book of John;

" But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping: and as she wept, she stooped down, and looked into the sepulchre,

And seeth two angels in white sitting, the one at the head, and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
And they say unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith unto them, Because they have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus.

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
Jesus saith unto her, Mary. She turned herself, and saith unto him, Rabboni; which is to say, Master.
Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. "   John 20:11-17

Mary recognized Jesus whe He called her by name.

My friend, someday, Jesus will call you and me by name.

Jesus not only created the Moon but He also created Mary...and you and me.

My friend, Jesus is incredible.

There are no words to describe Him.

Praise Jesus forever!

Always believe in Jesus.

This Week's Sermon ( 10-5-16 )

" For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake; "   Philippians 1:29

" I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. "   Philippians 4:12

" Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator. "   1 Peter 4:19

Jesus never promised that following Him would be an easy row to hoe.

It is easy to say " I'm blessed and highly favored " in the Lord, when you are wealthy, living in a mansion, and have no physical ailments.

The apostle Paul, who had a relationship with the Lord, knew better. This is why Paul said he lived both in wealth and poverty and could live in both through Christ who strengthened him.

" I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. "   Philippians 4:12-13

My friend, the Holy Bible does not contradict itself. While we are rich in Christ Jesus, blessed, highly favored, and have inherited all things from Him who died for us, the Bible also says we will suffer hardship.

This is why we need to continue in the faith of the gospel of Jesus Christ and keep our heart and mind focused on the end.

When you hear of bad things happening throughout the world, we need to pray for our brothers and sisters in Christ who are experiencing these bad things.

There is a Hurricane in the Atlantic heading for our east coast.

God has people in this hurricane who need our prayers. We need to acknowledge that these things do happen, even to God's people.

Don't live in denial.

However, even if we go through bad times, always remember that the Lord is good.

No matter what happens to us, the Lord is good.

Keep your faith in Jesus.

This Week's Sermon ( 9-20-16 )

" Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. "  Daniel 9:24

" And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate. "  Daniel 9:27

As vast as God Himself is, so is His word, the Holy Bible, consisting of 66 books written by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

With careful study of God's word, the " weeks " mentioned here in the book of Daniel, refer to years.

The " Seventy weeks " of Daniel are 490 years of Bible prophecy, carried out over a vast period of time including thousands of years. These " weeks " pertain to when Israel is a nation...and only then.

Technically, since Daniel prophesied all this, 483 years of these " seventy weeks " have already been fulfilled.

There is " one week " left remaining - that is, 7 years.

This " one week " or 7 years, is what evangelicals refer to as the 7 year tribulation period.

What starts this final " one week " or 7 years, is when the antichrist brings the Jews and the Arabs to sign a 7 year peace treaty.

If you are watching the news about Syria, there will someday come a man who will have ideas that will work to bring a temporary peace in that country...and throughout Israel and the Middle East.

He is what the Bible refers to as the antichrist.

John said;

" Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. "   1 John 2:18

It is interesting that John and the other believers in Jesus, 2000 years ago, thought they were approaching the 7 year tribulation period.

How much closer are we today.

Of course, Jesus will return to rapture those of us up into the clouds who believe in Jesus, as Paul said, just before this man in Syria brings about this temporary peace, and brings the Jews and the Arabs together to agree on and sign a 7 year peace treaty.
