Romans 1:17    Continued  ( posted 2-24-11 )

“ For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. “

Let’s continue.

A thorough study of the Scriptures and willful acceptance of all verses pertaining to the subject of the righteousness of God as an inherited righteousness upon faith in God’s Son, Jesus, and not merely picking and choosing only the verses we like, verses we singled out by our own selection that we think fits to our invented theology and/or philosophy, we will come to the understanding that as a saved, born again christian, Jesus is still our Judge… as well as our Lord and Savior.

But this time, we are not judged as we were before we came to believe in Jesus Christ.

This judgment has absolutely nothing to do with whether we will make it to Heaven or not. The reason we are in Heaven is because of our faith in Jesus Christ and that is why God let us into Heaven at all. God’s wrath no longer applies to those of us who believe in Jesus, according to the Bible.

Jesus already told us that in Heaven, there will be born again christians on different levels, based on Judgment of us as born again christians.

Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. “

Matthew 5:19

“  Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.Matthew 11:11

Wow! Really?

Did Jesus tell us there are lesser and greater christians in Heaven??

If God loves us all then how come some christians will be lesser than others in Heaven?

Now, this does not have anything to do with whether we will be in Heaven or not since obviously we make it to Heaven by our faith in Jesus and inheriting Jesus’ righteousness through our faith in Jesus and His gospel, just as we have learned in these verses in Romans.

What Jesus meant when He said;

and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven “

are those who tell christians that it is okay to live in sin and that we are not responsible for our actions and our words since we are only human and after all, since we are clothed in the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ and therefore since we are perfect , forgiven and flawless in God’s eyes, no matter how we live we will not be held accountable for our words and actions, since the “old nature “ has been done away with and we are now a “ new creation in Christ Jesus ” and our sinning is as if we never sinned and that we no longer have sin or act in sin, since the “old man” has been done away with and “ the life we now live we live by the faith in the Son of God “.

My friend, this is true in the fact that this is what gets us into Heaven.

But even though we make it to Heaven by this, it is a Biblical truth that the “old nature” still exists and is at war against our “ new nature” and depending on which one we give in to and allow to work in us, is what we will give account of when we stand before Jesus at the judgment seat of Christ.

Paul clearly said;

“ For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. “  2 Corinthians 5:10

And yes, Paul did say;

“ whether it be good or bad. “

I asked a church pastor what Paul meant by;

“ whether it be good or bad. “

He had no answer for what Paul meant by;

" bad "

Paul also said about us as born again christians that God knows the truth about us;

“ But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons. “     Colossians 3:25

What is interesting is that this applies to everyone, and nobody is exempt from this nor is anyone above this.

As the old saying goes in the secular world, nobody is above the law.

Same in the Kingdom of God. Nobody is above being judged and having to give account.

These statements of Jesus are never mentioned by christians because it does not fit to the theology and philosophy of most christians.

This is something most christians do not want to hear.

We always hear about going to Heaven and getting rewards.

That is a nice fantasy if it will turn out to be true for all of us.

Well, sorry to disappoint you but according to the Bible, not all born again christians will get rewards.

I know there are many Christians who could care less about rewards, just as long as they are in Heaven, that is all that matters.

I remember one christian who told me - " If I’m merely a hair on Jesus'… as long as I’m in Heaven, it doe not matter."

Well, I guess that is okay if you have no walking personal heart felt relationship with Jesus and never have cared to have a relationship with Him.

One of my Bible teachers said to us in class one day…” I’d hate to spend eternity with someone I did not love. “

This is the type of christian he referred to.

And this is what is interesting about this Bible teacher…he is not of the Calvin doctrine but yet admitted that a christian can still make it to Heaven with no personal relationship with the Lord.

He knew that the reason anyone makes it to Heaven is by faith in Jesus, not by earning their way to Heaven.

This is the point in what I’m saying…we cannot earn Heaven but we can earn rewards in Heaven, even earn a better judgment.

Paul admitted this about born again Christians when we are judged as we stand before Christ;

“ If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.  “    1 Corinthians 3:15

Yes, there will be christians on that day who will get no reward but because it is by grace through faith in Jesus Christ that born again christians are there in Heaven at all, these christians who did not get rewards will remain in Heaven, even with no rewards.

Now, if you are like the christian who told me he does not care if he gets any rewards as long as he is there, then this statement of Paul will not be a concern to you.

And, if you are like the person the Bible teacher described spending eternity with someone he did not love, then this statement of Paul will not be a concern to you.

DO you have people in your life who are being used by satan to tear you down spiritually?

Jesus said to us as followers of Him concerning rewards in Heaven about this situation you are going through;

“  Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast,

that no man take thy crown. “    Revelation 3:11

Obviously, if it were not possible to lose our crown, then Jesus would not have said this.

It is easier to give in to vengeance than to forgive. Anyone can get even, It takes a person of remarkable character to forgive.

Also, do not fall for the snare of a liar.

In either case, christians could lose their crown.

Another statement Jesus made to us who follow Him about rewards or lack thereof;

“  For if ye love them which love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? “  Matthew 5:46

Anyone can love people who love us back, kind, giving, and always saying nice things about us.

But try loving an evil person, someone who has done you wrong or even habitually does you wrong repeatedly as a lifestyle.

This is why Peter asked Jesus;

“ Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven. “      Matthew 18:21-22

To not love our enemy, and to not forgive our enemy will cost us our reward.

Always remember this Biblical truth.

While we all have our opinion and view of someone, the only opinion that will matter will be God's opinion.

Thankfully, it will be the Lord who will judge us and not anyone else!

The Lord is just and fair and knows our heart and knows the truth about us.

And also remember this Biblical truth...while we can fool people, we cannot fool God.

I will try to finish this in the next study.
