John 13:19-20 ( posted 10-19-14 )

Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I amhe.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

Let's continue.

Now I tell you before it come, that, when it is come to pass, ye may believe that I amhe.

It is interesting that again Jesus said I am.

The Greek reads that Jesus again said “ ego eimi “ translated I am.

If you remember in my earlier study we learned that when Jesus came to His disciples walking on Lake Galilee in the storm He told them “ I am.”

But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid. “    John 6:20

What is translated It is I; , in the Greek actually reads again “ ego eimi “ - meaning,

I am “.

Being God, Jesus told Moses;

And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. “    Exodus 3:14

Jesus told His disciples again later the same thing about telling them things ahead of time so that when it does happen they will remember and believe Him;

And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe. “   John 14:29

But these things have I told you, that when the time shall come, ye may remember that I told you of them. And these things I said not unto you at the beginning, because I was with you. John 16:4

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

Jesus also said;

He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me. “    Luke 10:16

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have doneitunto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have doneitunto me. “   Matthew 25:40

Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye diditnot to one of the least of these, ye diditnot to me. “   Matthew 25:45

Obviously, the overall relationship is that believers in Jesus are connected to God through Jesus Christ His only begotten Son.

Those who are not believers in Jesus are not connected to God.

I will continue with verse 21 in the next study.

John 12:49-50 ( posted 5-8-14 )

For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

Let's continue.

  For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

We must remember that Jesus is God made flesh...a human being.

This is difficult for human comprehension.

God in 3 persons is still one God.

Moses, in quoting God wrote;

And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

Genesis 1:26-29

God referred to Himself in the plural sense;

And God said, Let us ...”

and then referred to Himself in the singular sense;

And God said, Behold, I have

Jesus, being God in the flesh referred to Himself as being equal and the same as God the Father;

I andmyFather are one.“  John 10:30

And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:“   John 17:22

Paul even referred to those of us who believe in Jesus as being one;

So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Romans 12:5

Paul referred to those of us who believe in Jesus and do His will as being one in our work for the Lord;

Now he that planteth and he that watereth are one: and every man shall receive his own reward according to his own labour. “   1 Corinthians 3:8

Paul even referred to believers in Jesus who take communion as being one;

For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. 1 Corinthians 10:17

Paul compared us being one even though we have arms, legs, toes, fingers, ears etc...we are still one body. Likewise we are one in Christ.

For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. 1 Corinthians 12:12

John also said God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit are one in the same God;

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. “   1 John 5:7

Even in human flesh Jesus said that He is God and has power as God;

Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.“  John 10:17-18

Paul understood and knew that Jesus is literally God in the flesh;

  Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: “ Philippians 2:6

Keep in mind the submissiveness of Jesus unto God His Father is in His human flesh.

This is incredible.

God became His own Son and submitted Himself to Himself to set the example of lifestyle for you and me and anyone who believes in Jesus.

And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

This is the clincher.

This is why 9 out of 10 people reject Jesus.

Jesus proclaimed that God His Father gave Him, in His flesh, what to speak to us and that what His Father says is eternal life.

In other words, Jesus claims to have the words to eternal life, given to Him from God His Father who He also claims to be one with and the same as.

If you remember in my earlier study in the book of John we learned that Peter admitted that Jesus has the words to eternal life;

From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?

Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God. “  John 6:66-69

This ends our study of John chapter 12.

My friend, always remember and believe that Jesus is God literally in the flesh as a human being. He is not only the Son of God, the only begotten Son of God, but Jesus is God.

Jesus is not a created being...as many think.

Jesus existed from eternity past and will continue to exist to eternity future as God.

Contrary to the belief and opinion of 9 out of 10 people today, according to the Holy Bible Jesus alone is enough for our salvation and entrance into Heaven.

According to the Holy Bible, nobody and nothing else is necessary for our salvation, even though 9 out of 10 people think more than Jesus is required for salvation and entrance into Heaven.

What is sad is that there are evangelical christians who think a religion that requires more than Jesus for salvation might also be the way to Heaven, as well as their own evangelical denomination.

For them, as long as people believe there is a God they will all go to Heaven. For them, they might say that Jesus is the way to Heaven but for others who believe Jesus alone is not enough or that Jesus is not even needed for salvation, since God loves everybody, God has alternative ways to get to Heaven.

This is a deception that Paul prophesied would happen before Jesus returns.

It is what Paul calls...the apostasy.

Apostasy is a major sign that Jesus is coming back.

My friend, Jesus' blood cleanses us from sin and saves us.

Not Jesus plus someone or something else.

Praise Jesus' Holy name...forever and ever!!!!!!!!!!!

Like with anything else, we either believe Jesus or we do not.

I will continue with chapter 13 in the next study.

The Lord bless you!

John 12:48 ( posted 4-28-14 )

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

Let's continue.

He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

We must remember that Jesus is the Word who became flesh;

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:14

Jesus is God in every detail of His existence manifested in human form, including God's words to the human race.

This is why Jesus said in the verse of our study;

the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

If we reject Jesus we reject God's word to us.

Moses wrote about Jesus;

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.    Deuteronomy 18:19

Jesus said;

He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me.“    Luke 10:16

God came to earth and became a human being named Jesus.

During His life here on earth, suffering, death and resurrection, He came not to judge nor condemn the world but chose to willingly go through all this in hope to save the world from eternal hell...if anyone should believe in Jesus.

I believe if God knew only one person would believe in Jesus He still would have done all this...even for one person.

Even as important as Jesus is, being God in the flesh coming to earth to save souls, Jesus told those who do believe in Him not to force anyone to believe in Him.

God created people with the right of choice.

So, if we tell someone about Jesus and they reject Jesus, we are to leave them alone and say no more.

Jesus clearly said;

And whosoever will not receive you, when ye go out of that city, shake off the very dust from your feet for a testimony against them.“   Luke 9:5

God has given human beings only one life to decide where they want to spend eternity.

After physical death whatever they chose they will live with for all eternity.

Interesting, even those who willfully choose to reject Jesus will at the Judgment have to bow the knee to Jesus and verbally confess that Jesus is Lord and Savior.

Paul said;

Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;

And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. “   Philippians 2:9-11

Yes my friend, even those who reject Jesus will at the day of Judgment have to bow the knee and tell Jesus, the very One they rejected, that He is Lord and Savior.

Unfortunately, this moment will not save them from the choice they made during their earthly life to go to eternal hell.

They should have believed in Jesus during their physical life here on earth.

Then, it will be too late.

I will continue with verse 49 in the next study.

John 12:47 ( posted 4-14-14 )

And if any man hear my words, and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

Let's continue.

And if any man hear my words,

The Greek word “ akouse “ translated hear means to hear in various senses. This word is used for something to be noised, to be reported and to be understood.

Here in America, we have an expression - “ I hear you “. When someone says something to us and we can relate to it and understand what was said, we sometimes respond by saying “ I hear you “. It means we understand what was said, not just merely heard what was said.

People can hear what was said and many times what someone said goes right over their head, as we also say.

This means we heard what was said but do not understand what was said.

This is why Jesus said;

Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.

And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: Matthew 13:13-14

Paul said there are people who hear the truth but never come to the truth.

Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. “  2 Timothy 3:7

This is the problem with being opinionated. This results in diverse doctrines all claiming to be of the same goal. It may or may not result in the same goal.

The Lord knows.

While the gospel is printed in the Holy Bible and a person can come to Christ just from reading the Bible, since it is the Word of God, God Himself seems to place importance on the gospel being preached so people can hear with their ears...though not a requirement.

Philip was told by the Holy Spirit to go and teach the eunuch who was in his chariot reading the Bible but had trouble understanding it;

Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.

And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him. “   Acts 8:29-31

Jesus Himself after His resurrection walked with 2 disciples and preached the gospel beginning with Moses in the Old Testament.

And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures? “ Luke 24:32

During the future 7 year tribulation period God has an angel preach the gospel;

And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,

Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. “   Revelation 14:6-7

Paul said faith comes from hearing the gospel;

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. “ Romans 10:13-17

and believe not, I judge him not: for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.“   John 3:17-18

Hearing the gospel, understanding the gospel and believing the gospel are not the same thing.

Having merely head knowledge of the Bible does not mean we believe it.

Faith is in the heart, not the brain.

We can look at a map and see a town in a certain state and though we have never been to that town nor seen it, we can choose to believe it exists and have faith in the person who printed it on the map that it does exist.

This is faith.

Likewise, we can choose to have faith in the Bible and believe what it says exists even though we have never seen what it claims exists or we can choose not to believe it.

If we choose not to believe the Bible God is still merciful to grant us more time to change our mind.

Peter said;

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. “   2 Peter 3:9

Judgment will eventually come, but for now, God is merciful in giving us time to decide to believe the gospel.

The statements of Jesus in these verses we are studying are incredibly important and we need to pay close attention to what Jesus said.

I will continue with verse 48 in the next study.

John 12:46 ( posted 3-25-14 )

I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

Let's continue.

  I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.

The Greek word “ skotia “ translated “darkness “ means dimness, obscurity.

Webster's definition for the word obscure is - “ to cover, conceal, not easily perceived, not easily understood, vague, not clear or distinct, faint or undefined.

If you remember in my earlier study in the book of John we learned that Jesus said;

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world. “  John 9:5

Jesus was totally clear to the public as to who He was. He did not cover up, conceal Himself, nor was He vague or undefined.

When a person believes in Jesus, he or she becomes the light of the world, since Jesus ascended back to Heaven.

We now manifest the light of Christ in us.

Jesus said about those who believe in Him;

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. “  Matthew 5:14-16

John, the writer of the book of John in which we are studying, said this in his later epistle;

" This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. “ 1 John 1:5-7

John used the same Greek word for darkness in this passage.

In other words, if we claim to believe in Jesus we should not be obscure about it.

We should not hide our profession of faith in Jesus from the world.

Paul said;

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you,

And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. “  2 Corinthians 6:17-18

There will come a day when many people in society will take an identification mark that will be plainly visible for all to see that connects them with who the Bible calls - “ the antichrist. “

If these people are not ashamed to be identified with such a person as the antichrist who will be unimaginably wicked, why would a believer in Jesus not make it publicly clear and defined that he or she believes in Jesus.

Jesus, who is good.

Jesus, who came to save people from eternal hell.

I will continue with verse 47 in the next study.

John 12:42-45 ( posted 3-18-14 )

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.

Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

Let's continue.

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. “

If you remember in my earlier study in the book of John, Jesus said;

How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour thatcomethfrom God only?

Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there isonethat accuseth you,evenMoses, in whom ye trust.

For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.

But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words? John 5:44-47

For most people, it is more important what humans think than what God thinks about us.

According to Jesus we cannot be believers of “ the faith “ while being focused on this world.

Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me.

And he that seeth me seeth him that sent me.

The reason Jesus said this is to make us understand that He is God in the flesh.

If you also remember in my earlier study in the book of John, Jesus declared to be the same as God the Father;

I andmyFather are one.   John 10:30

The Holy Bible teaches this about God.

Just as the Bible says a man and wife are one flesh, God the Father, God the Holy Spirit and Jesus the Son are one in the same God.

God became a human being and called Himself Jesus.

This is important to know.

Jesus is not a created being.

Being God, He came down from Heaven and literally became flesh and blood.

While most people believe in God's existence, though with a variety of opinions and views as to what they think who or what God is, Jesus made it clear that believing there is a God is not enough to get us to Heaven.

Jesus told His disciples;

...ye believe in God, believe also in me. “   John 14:1

We cannot be saved, forgiven and accepted into Heaven without believing in God's only begotten Son, Jesus.

Jesus said;

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:16-18

God had a Son and yet He is that Son.

This is why God wants our attention and faith to be focused on Jesus, in order to be saved.

It is Jesus' blood from His human body that saves us.

With that same blood He shed, He washes our sins away and makes our soul clean enough to enter Heaven.

This is incredible.

This is what the Holy Bible teaches.

Like with anything else, we either believe it or we don't.

According to Jesus, if we want to make it to Heaven we must believe in Him and everything He claimed.

I will continue with verse 46 in the next study.
