John 13:3 ( posted 6-17-14 )

Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come from God, and went to God; “

Let's continue.

Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands,”

Jesus said;

All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, andheto whomsoever the Son will revealhim.

Come unto me, allyethat labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

For my yokeiseasy, and my burden is light. “  Matthew 11:27-30

In Jesus' humanity God gave Him everything.

As God, He already had everything.

and that he was come from God, and went to God; “

I can never reiterate enough who Jesus is.

Jesus said about Himself;

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. “  John 3:16

The Greek word “ monogene “ translated only begotten means only child, sole, only born.

Contrary to popular opinion, human beings are not God's children.

Jesus is God's only child.

However, Jesus is not a created being...as we are.

The writer of Hebrews in referring to Jesus quoted Jesus having said;

Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: “  Hebrews 10:5

Notice Jesus said this when He came into the world, which means He already existed before He was born here on earth;

Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith,”

The Greek word “ katertiso “ translated “ hast thou prepared “ means to complete thoroughly, to fit, frame, mend.

In other words, it was just the physical body that God designed for Jesus.

As Jesus came down from Heaven He entered the womb of Mary and miraculously became one with the physical body. Jesus did not merely enter the body, as some think, but literally became that body.

If you remember in my earlier study we learned that John said the Word, who is Jesus, literally became flesh;

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. “   John 1:14

John quoted John the Baptist confirming that Jesus existed before He was born here on earth;

John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. “ John 1:15

Paul confirmed that Jesus existed before He was born here on earth;

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:

And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. “   Philippians 2:6-8

Even though Jesus as God became a human being, He committed no sin...even though the writer of Hebrews said He was tempted as we are, He overcame.

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.

Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. “   Hebrews 4:15-16

Listen up!

This is the problem in society concerning faith in Jesus.

Most people do not believe in Jesus at all nor do they believe anything He said but there are still millions upon millions of people have no problem believing Jesus is the Son of God, and that He was not a created being and that He existed as God before He was born here on earth.

This is not the problem.

The problem is believing that Jesus alone in Himself is enough to get us to Heaven.

Jesus said clearly that we are to believe in Him and Him alone for salvation;

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.“   John 3:16

Notice Jesus said clearly merely believing in God is not what saves us but rather believing in Him is what saves us;

that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jesus clearly told His disciple not to just believe in God but to also believe in Him;

Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. John 14:1

Most the population of earth does not believe in Jesus but they do believe in God or that there is some kind of god, supreme being that exists. Even people who claim there is no God use God's name in vain when they curse and swear and blame God for trouble in their life...the very God they claim does not exist.

James said;

Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. “ James 2:19

However, like I said, there are many people who believe in Jesus and who He claims to be.

But here is the problem with most who believe in Jesus.

Jesus said quite clearly that He and He alone is the only way to get to Heaven;

I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thouthen,Shew us the Father?

Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

Believe me that Iamin the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.“   John 14:6-11

Even though Jesus said this, most people cannot believe that Jesus and He alone can save us but rather it takes someone or something else in addition to Jesus for us to be saved.

For them Jesus is only part of salvation.

If we do not believe that Jesus and He alone is enough for our salvation then we cannot be saved.

Jesus made it quite clear that He and He alone can only save us and get us to Heaven, not Jesus plus anyone or anything else;

I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. John 14:6

I will continue with verse 4 in the next study.
