The SS-15 is an acoustic archtop with traditional jazz appointments and styling.
Brooklyn, NY (August 21, 2010) – Sadowsky Guitars has announced the latest addition to their lineup of archtops, the acoustic SS-15, along with their True Tone archtop bridge.
SS-15
The all acoustic brother of the Semi-Hollow, the SS-15 features the same body as the Semi, but is all acoustic with traditional jazz guitar appointments and styling. The thin body provides a more immediate acoustic response than it’s larger siblings, with no compromise to its amplified tone. The 1-3/4″ nut width and 14 frets to the body give the SS-15 a familiar comfort to any jazz guitarist. For the touring guitarist, the SS-15 is a perfect size for overhead airline bins and is more roadworthy that solid wood instruments.
Specs:
14-3/4″ body
1-3/4: bbody depth
5-Ply Laminate Flame maple contruction
24-3/4″ scale length, 14 frets to body, 1-piece mahogany neck

Sadowsky True-Tone compensated ebony bridge saddles.
Ivoroid binding
Black hardware
Custom wound vintage PAF style pickup with black cover
Price: $3975 w/hardshell caseTrue Tone Saddle
Typical archtop saddles are either an intonation compromise or are intonated for a wound G string common on heavier strings. With the exception of metal Tune-o-matic style bridges, there are no wooden bridge saddles compensated for a plain G.
Every new Sadowsky archtop comes with the True-Tone saddle set. Custom designed by Roger Sadowsky, the ebony saddles are compensated for plain and wound G strings. Tested over a six month period on many guitars prior to release, the intonation offsets offer superb intonation.
The Sadowsky True-Tone saddles are available as a retro-fit for older Sadowsky guitars, as well as any archtop bridge with standard Tune-o-matic post spacing. Saddles can be custom fit for fingerboard radius, string spacing or height by your local guitar tech. Available individually ($50) or as a set ($90).

Sennheiser’s HearIAm? campaign gives fans and bands unique musical experiences.
Old Lyme, CT (August 20, 2010) – Sennheiser, a leader in microphones, headphones, and wireless systems, has been sponsoring the HearIAm? campaign all summer long. The campaign gives winning bands and fans one-of-a-kind music experiences. On August 1, the campaign went to Montreal’s Osheaga festival, where a winning band, Trucker (pictured onstage at the festival), won the opportunity to play for more than 50,000 fans in a lineup that included Sonic Youth, Snoop Dogg, and more.
Trucker was voted into the top spot by an expert panel of music professionals, as well as thousands of fans. Trucker joins four other HearIAm? finalists who will be competing for a 3-song recording with major producer from Pick the Ban, a mastering and distribution deal from Universal Republic Records, and an A&R showcase at Universal Republic’s headquarters in New York.
HearIAm will be choosing another deserving band for the next phase of their campaign in October. One talented band will be selected to play a performance shot as an official CMJ act for the CMJ Music Marathon and Film Festival in New York City. Sennheiser is accepting entries now.
Fans can also get in on the action, as HearIAm? is offering music experiences for winning fans as well. Fans can share their music and vote for their favorite artists on picktheband.com, and be in the running for these experiences. The most recent winner was awarded a VIP music weekend to the Osheaga 2010 with three of his friends.

Ocean Township, NJ (August 18, 2010) – Luthier Phil Petillo has passed away at age 64 of a heart attack. Beyond being a master luthier for Petillo Masterpiece Guitars, Petillo was an inventor who held more than 25 patents, including the first patent on fret design since the 1800s and an acoustic pickup design.
Petillo built, designed, and repaired guitars for more than 40 years, learning the craft from John D’Angelico and John’s godson James Diserio. He was a graduate of Columbia University and earned his Doctorate in Engineering Technology from LaSalle? University. He built and repaired guitars for Bruce Springsteen, Tal Farlow, Tom Petty, Johnny Cash, the Smithsonian and many others.
Petillo’s work stretched far beyond musical instruments. He designed innovations in both medical and alternative energy fields, including life-saving surgical instruments and fuel cell technology. He is survived by his wife and five sons.
We were lucky enough to speak with Petillo for a builder profile in our May 2009 issue and with his son, Dave, for a feature on inlay artists in our July 2009 issue. Judging by the proliferation of comments on both articles, Phil Petillo made an incredible impact on those he encountered. Despite his professional excellence in multiple fields, Petillo remained down-to-earth and personable. His artistry and commitment to innovation will be missed.
